Durable, Inclusive Amenity Solutions for a Future-Ready Campus
As part of the Queensland Government’s Building Future Schools Program, Woogaroo Creek State School was designed and built to support the fast-growing community of Augustine Heights. Delivered by FKG Group, with design by Cox Architecture and engineering support by Arcos to handle complex subsoil conditions, the $85 million campus opened in January 2023.
Project Brief
Within this expansive new campus—featuring a Discovery Centre, music precinct, multi-purpose hall, sports courts, environmental garden spaces, kitchen facilities, and student amenities—DuraCube’s Bathroom Joinery Systems were called upon to deliver high-quality bathroom joinery consistent with the school’s architectural ambitions and operational needs.
The goal was to provide durable, low-maintenance, inclusive, and visually harmonious bathroom spaces across multiple blocks, while complying with accessibility standards and complementing the school’s design identity. A colour scheme was developed in consultation with the principal, “inspired by the Black-chinned Honeyeater, a rare bird species found in the eucalypt forests along Woogaroo Creek. The building primarily received neutral off-whites and warm greys, with occasional yellow, green, and blue accents.”
Key Challenges
To meet these requirements, DuraCube supplied and installed Full Height – Privacy Ultra systems, offering exceptional strength, privacy, and modern appeal tailored for education environments.
Key inclusions:
The completed amenities reflect DuraCube’s commitment to design integrity, inclusivity, and resilience. “Great care was taken to retain the essence of the concept design, respectfully adjusting the master plan and materials palette to improve efficiencies and reduce long-term maintenance,” said Chapman Leijenaar, Principal at ChapmanAMD. The result is a suite of high-performance bathroom and amenity spaces that meet the functional demands of staff and students while reinforcing Woogaroo Creek State School’s vision for a safe, sustainable, and future-ready learning environment.
