The Modbury Sports and Community Club, located on Hazel Grove in Ridgehaven, South Australia, serves as the home of the Modbury Hawks Football and Cricket Clubs, which together have over 700 members. To accommodate growth and modernise facilities, the club underwent a major $8.7 million redevelopment, jointly funded by the City of Tea Tree Gully and the South Australian Government.
The redevelopment delivered four unisex change rooms, umpire rooms, modern function spaces, accessible amenities, and upgraded clubrooms. Designed to better serve players, families, members, and visitors, the project aimed to enhance usability, comfort, and accessibility while celebrating the club’s long-standing heritage since 1862.
Constructed by BluBuilt Constructions, in collaboration with Walter Brooke and Associates, the project spanned 17 months from start to finish, with 12 months of active construction, and preserves the community-focused spirit of the club while providing a modern, high-quality environment.
Key Challenges
Durability, accessibility, and visual cohesion were central to the redevelopment, and the project team required systems that could withstand constant use while reinforcing the club’s updated aesthetic. To deliver on these needs, DuraCube systems were integrated throughout the changerooms, amenities, and high-traffic common areas, offering a unified solution that balanced strength, practicality, and design intent.
In the changerooms and shared spaces, DuraCube’s Bench Seating Wall with Coat Rail was installed in DuraSafe 738 Oak , introducing a warm yet refined contrast that complemented the club’s contemporary palette while providing reliable seating and storage for players and officials.
Plinth Mounted Lockers in DuraSafe 113 Off White were incorporated to create secure, low-maintenance storage zones that support daily sporting use without compromising the clean, modern look of the interiors.
To enhance privacy and user comfort, our Full-height Privacy Core partitions in DuraSafe 275 Classic Grey were used across the changerooms and shower areas, delivering durability, inclusivity, and a welcoming sense of safety suitable for a community-focused environment.
The club’s project lead summarised the response from members and visitors, sharing:
“Amazing feedback, all members & visitors are thrilled with the finished product.”
