St Marys Baseball Club, Monfarville Reserve

St Marys Baseball Club, located at Monfarville Reserve, was originally established in 1964. Over time, the club’s changeroom and amenity facilities no longer met current standards or compliance requirements. Recognising the importance of providing safe, inclusive, and modern facilities, Penrith City Council undertook a comprehensive upgrade to better support players, officials, and visitors.

Project Brief

As a high-use community sporting venue, the project required robust, compliant, and low-maintenance amenities capable of accommodating frequent use during training sessions and competitive fixtures. The brief focused on delivering contemporary facilities that enhanced privacy, accessibility, and overall user comfort, while remaining sympathetic to the surrounding parkland environment. Durability and longevity were critical considerations, given the demands placed on the amenities throughout the sporting season.

Key Challenges

  • Capacity & Accessibility: Managing high user volumes while ensuring privacy and providing ambulant-compliant facilities.
  • Durability: Using moisture- and impact-resistant materials designed for low maintenance in wet-area conditions.
  • Design Balance: Achieving a calm, natural aesthetic that suits the reserve setting without sacrificing safety or performance.
Duracube Solution

To meet these requirements, DuraCube supplied and installed its Full Height Privacy Core (FHPC) System. Manufactured from 13mm DuraSafe compact laminate, the system delivers exceptional durability, privacy, and performance, making it ideally suited to high-traffic sporting environments.

Ambulant cubicles were fitted with outward-opening doors and compliant black hardware, including lift-off hinges and vacant/engaged indicators, ensuring accessibility and ease of use. The full-height configuration enhances privacy and contributes to a clean, cohesive appearance throughout the changerooms.

To enhance functionality within the designated change areas, wall-mounted bench seating with integrated coat rails (BSW-C) was installed throughout the facility. Finished in DuraSafe 245 Gum Leaf, the benches provide durable seating and organised storage for personal gear, while reinforcing a natural colour palette aligned with the surrounding landscape.

The amenities were further supported by plinth-mounted locker units, also finished in DuraSafe Gum Leaf Matt, offering secure and easy-to-clean storage for match officials. Shower areas were equipped with compact laminate shower seats and privacy splash nibs, improving comfort, safety, and accessibility for users of all abilities.

Reflecting on the completed upgrade, Darryl Buckley, Treasurer of St Marys Baseball Club, shared:

“The end result matches our club colours, green and white, which looks fantastic. The high partitions provide excellent privacy, and overall everything works really well together.”
