Located on Grote Street in Adelaide’s CBD, Her Majesty’s Theatre has been a cornerstone of Australian performing arts for over a century. Following a $66-million transformation, this landmark venue has been reimagined to combine heritage elegance with modern functionality, reaffirming its reputation as one of Australia’s premier theatres.
The redevelopment preserved the original façade and eastern wall, while expanding the site to accommodate a larger stage, auditorium, and grand circle seating. The project introduced upgraded accessibility, advanced stage technology, and enhanced audience facilities, ensuring an exceptional experience for both performers and patrons.
Designed by COX Architecture and delivered by Hansen Yuncken, the project showcases the perfect balance between architectural preservation and contemporary performance capability.
